Change in schedule
Hi all...here is what is planned for this month. Starting next week (when classes begin) my office hours will be posted on the door. Come by and say hi at some point or drop in with any questions you may have.
Monday 13 - Open house. I'll be in after work (around 3) although it would be nice if someone else could cover the earlier part of the day
Friday - Sunday 17 - 19 - Retreat. Basically a huge study session at my apartment
Tuesday/Wednesday 21 & 22 - New member meetings. One each day (not sure on times yet) as a follow up from welcome week
Friday - Sunday 24 - 26 - Kings Tournament. Brenda & Laura, Ruthie & Bobbie are the teams going. This is just for the first tournament of the year, they will be changed in October.
Looks to be busy. Lets get off to a good start. :)
See you all next week.

Slight change of plans
Slight change....No retreat this weekend.
We'll still be doing it...and soon, just not this weekend. I think we were a bit too hopeful in getting it done so quickly after ADI. I'll drop a line when I know more about a rescheduled date and time.

2004 - 2005 Topic Resolution
The ballots have been cast. Our resolution for this year is as follows:Resolved: the United States federal government should establish an energy
policy requiring a substantial reduction in the total non-governmental
consumption of fossil fuels in the United States.
Let's get crackin! Current Mood: excited

Classes this fall
As you all probably (or should
) know, our topic this year is on energy policy.
There is a class on campus, POL 325 - Environmental Politics, that looks promising for our topic. It's held Tuesday and Thursday 1:05 - 2:20 in SB 209.
The catalog states, "An examination of policy making on environmental and energy problems globally, nationally, and locally."
I've signed up for the class. It might be cool if others did as well.
If you know of any others that might come in handy, let me know. Current Mood: amused

Team meetings this coming school year will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursdays in the office. At least twice a month, these will be practice rounds with our coach. We will be doing more, but these ones will be guided by her.
Ruthi, Laura and myself will be leaving for the Arizona Debate Institute on Monday. We'll be gone for two weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, drop us an email and we'll get to it as soon as possible.
Also, the resolution will be announced on Friday. Please do some initial research. Current Mood: determined

Well folks...I hope you're enjoying our off season. Don't worry though, it won't last much longer. ;)
In just over a month and a half we'll be heading to ADI.
But...until then...we have other things to take care of. First off, new members and others that are interested in the team, we'll be having a meeting on July 12 @ 6pm in our office in the UC
. ALL current members are expected to show up. Feel free to bring along a friend or two you think might be interested.
Next person in the office...please post this on the board outside the office so anyone that comes by when we're not in will be informed.
Don't forget...check out this year's topic paper. We've got a lot of work to do before the season gets into full swing! Current Mood: ditzy

First things first...buisness:
Don't forget ADI - August 2-15.
Team Dinner (Red Lobster per RifRaf) May 1st 7pm
Now on to the intersting stuff...
Kyle: Why do people keep saying shenanegans today?
Nick: Yeah, Children's hospitals, they're no fun.
Bryan: She was blonde, bimbo-ey and hot. Maybe we should ask him to bring his girlfriend again.
Stella: This is wrong! Don't stop!
Bryan: Ahhhh! It's not supposed to come out until you squeeze
Thad: I'm not Jesus damnit! Don't stab me in the side with a spear.
Brenda: You shoulda been there on Saturday. We had more flames than Kyle
Renee: Who the fuck is Jesus?
Ruthie: Hell if I know.
Jess: You're not the boss of me, I'm the boss of you
Jason: I just realized, I'm skipping the wrong class...See ya guy
Ruthie: I'd feel so much better if this was Vodka Current Mood: confused

The season is officially over
Well folks....this season is now officially over. There are still a couple of tournaments left, but nothing we're going to. But don't think that means that we're free. There is still a lot of work to do, especially if we want to kick ass next year. I'm sick of losing. :)
I'll be in the office normal hours this week (if not more) so swing on in. We're going to also have to set up a debate retreat at my apartment and an end of the season dinner with Sue. We'll deal with that later though.
And to cap off this post...this week's quotes:
Brenda (While eatting Ramen Noodles): "I'm gonna be a walking salt lick by the time I'm through with this."
Clay (aka Bobbie): "My God, where'd this water come from? They're everywhere!"
Renee: "I just want to be a better fudger"
Ruthie: "Thank God I'm agnostic"
Laura: "I swear to fucking God!"
Ruthie: "Fucking God? Now that's a God I'd like to worship."
Laura: "So become a pagan."
Brenda: "Joe, can I borrow some lube? I have to make some phone calls." Current Mood: awake

talking about nuclear war
this sunday after we survive districts we need to massively partay it up. because partying on a sunday is the thing to do.
p.s. i'm now a member of seven communities and that weirds me out.
p.p.s. debaters may enjoy the following community: roy_inclingfilm Current Mood: dorky
Ahhh...to be able to use the dry erase board again. Here are the last few days worth of quotes. Just remember they're always taken out of context:
Brenda:"Excuse me Mr. Wizard, I just came over the rainbow. Can I have some lube?"
Laura:"Dude, you're like the Kate Moss of Fat people."
Brenda:"More like the Kate Winslet."
Ruthie:"Whores need their juice!"
Brenda:"How long did it take Jesus to dry on the cross?"
Nick:"Don't you want to sit in a pool of your own filth?"
Brenda:"I did, for 24 years." Current Mood: busy
Eventually I see this place being used to post research announcments, team meetings, tournament dates and all that kind of useful stuff.
However, considering we're just about done with this season it looks like it will work as a place to store those quotes that end up on the erase board every day.
At least we're amusing.
If anyone wants to make this journal look pretty, feel free. If not I'll spend some time on it after ADA nats. Current Mood: working
